Mainly because we, IBM/Red Hat, have accelerated development of new
features.
There are a number of major new features including QoS, TLS, gRPC
replacement for dbus, prometheus monitoring, memory statistics, RDMA
support, write delegations, etc.
Every major feature is a bump in the major version. Sometimes two major
features are in a single major version bump.
There's more in the pipeline too, as we work to match kNFS feature for
feature, and more, so you can expect several more major version bumps in
coming months.

V9.0->V10.0 - Oct 2025->Jun 2026 - 8 months
V10.0->V12.0 (with V11.0 in the middle!) - Jun 2026-Jul 2026 - 1 month.
Is this due to an increased pace of development? Or specific high
risk/churn features that have gone in? Or something else? What makes
V10/11/12 new major releases rather than new minor releases?
