CEPH: Use proper mode while creating directory If the parent directory has POSIX ACLs set, then while creating the sub-directory the mode should be 0777. Restrictive mode like 0755, which is used by Ganesha by default, leads to clipping the mask value to "r-x" and suppresses write for named users/groups. Effectively on NFS client side one observes "write" permissions are wiped off.
