Re: [EXTERNAL] Proxy FSAL client session renewal failures
Problem re-occurred. I restarted Ganesha, and the client mounts were setup, and about 24 hours later, the same failures started happening. I guess I’ll turn up logging to try to see what’s going on. Suggestions welcome… Thanks. -Jeff From: "Becker, Jeffrey C. (ARC-TN)[InuTeq, LLC] via Support" <support@lists.nfs-ganesha.org> Reply-To: "Becker, Jeffrey C. I’m testing Ganesha 3.3 serving about 20 exported filesystems using Proxy FSAL. I set up my config, and started the server. We were able to mount all directories successfully on a pair of clients, and run miscellaneous tests. Everything looked good. However, about 3 hours after a successful server start, I started seeing the following repeatedly in the log. I checked that the NFS server exports were still fine, and we couldn’t find anything significant on either client, so I’m wondering where these are coming from. Is there some timeout? Credential_LifeTime defaults to 24 hours (86400 seconds). If you want it set to something else, then it has to be done for each export, since it's in a FSAL block. Since this is proxy, "client" is an ambiguous term. Can you be more explicit by what you mean by "timeout parameter for clients"? Which client do you mean? Hi Daniel, The clients I mean, are the ones that are mounting filesystems from the Ganesha server (one for each Ganesha export). It is these mounts that are failing after 24 hours. I'm sorry, I thought I had answered. I'm not an expert in Proxy, so I can't say for sure. I'd expect GSS creds to refresh transparently to Ganesha's client, but there may be a bug there. Daniel On 9/30/20 11:33 AM, Becker, Jeffrey C. (ARC-TN)[InuTeq, LLC] via Support wrote:

We don't use GSS. I configured the Ganesha build without it. Seems like the session renewal failures have to do with something else? Okay, I just assumed GSS since Credential_LifeTime is for GSS. It must be something else, then. You'll have to turn on logging, and see why the session is being dropped. Daniel On 9/30/20 2:03 PM, Becker, Jeffrey C. (ARC-TN)[InuTeq, LLC] wrote:
We don't use GSS. I configured the Ganesha build without it. Seems like the session renewal failures have to do with something else? Thanks.

I'm sorry, I thought I had answered.
I'm not an expert in Proxy, so I can't say for sure. I'd expect GSS creds to refresh transparently to Ganesha's client, but there may be a bug there.

My use case is that I'd like to have the client mounts persist (until unmounted, or server goes down). What's the best way to configure Ganesha to do that?
